Andrews Jewelers closes after 57 years, final sales above projections by 59%
Immediate release [ March 9, 2010 ]
Charleston, S.C. – When Francis Andrews decided to retire from the jewelry business after 57 years in Lavonia, Georgia, she was faced with options that included selling the store or liquidating the inventory. With little interest from prospective buyers, and no family members capable of running it, Andrews decided to close the store and run a liquidation sale. She met with several companies specializing in running closing events and chose Silverman Consultants, an industry leader in sales strategies for jewelers.
“Now that the store closing event is over, I can honestly say that my choice to hire Silverman Consultants was the right choice,” commented Andrews. The sale event realized an increase of 91 percent over projection and 59 percent over Andrews’s average annual volume.
To net a successful closing sale for Andrews, Silverman created a professional sales plan and brought in additional merchandise as her inventory levels were very low after the Christmas selling season. Silverman also compiled a marketing plan that included the use of print, radio and sign walker programs.
Commenting on the success of the sale, owner Francis Andrews said, “Silverman’s ability to support the sale with vast amounts of unique inventory at exceptional pricing was key in making it successful. We were able to maintain margins of nearly 50 percent throughout the sale and exceeded our sales projection. Due to Silverman’s hard work and efforts, I have closed my store in the most effective way possible. We generated more sales than expected, and I received the highest return possible on my inventory. I do not feel as if I left anything on the table. I would greatly recommend Silverman’s services to others and inform them of the importance of hiring professionals such as Silverman to effectively run a sales promotion.”
